Corrado Calabrò
President |
Born in Reggio Calabria in 1935, he graduated in law, magna cum
laude, in June 1957 at Messina University. He lives in Rome.
In May 1968, working at the National Audit Court (Corte dei Conti)
he enters, first ranked in the national competition, the Council
of State of which he later becomes, in 1982, President of section.
At the Council of State he was assigned to jurisdictional and
consultative sections and to the Council of Administrative Justice
of Sicily Region.
He later became. In 1990, President Adjoint of the 3rd Section
and, since 1996, of the 5th Section.
President of the 3rdSection from 1997 to 2000. President of the
Section for regulatory acts since 1st January 2001.
He drafted exemplary Council decisions on the effectiveness of
the jurisdictional protection.
From 1st October to 9th May 2006 he was President of the Regional
Administrative Court of Lazio Region, where he Chaired also the
1st Section, that deals with the public function in the economy,
i.e. overlooking the Competition Authority, the Consob (Stockmarket
Control Authority) and the National Bank of Italy.
He is the author of a number of works on labour and administrative
law. Among these, the works in the field of judgement of compliance
and those that shift the object of the judgment from the administrative
action itself are considered to have brought significant innovations
in the administrative law.
From 1963 to 1968 he was Head of the technical-legal Secretariat
of the President of the Council of Ministers, Aldo Moro.
He then served as Head of Cabinet to a number of Ministers: Budget,
South, Health, Industry, Agriculture, Commercial Navy, Post &
Telecommunications (1978), Public Education and University, EU Policies,
Institutional Reforms.
He chaired the Permanent Advisory Committee on intellectual property.
From July 1999 to September 2001 he was President of the Association
of judges of the Council of State.
He is a poet and a writer.
Mechnikov University of Odessa, in 1997, and Vest Din University
of Timisoara, in 2000, awarded him the honorary degree (honoris
causa ad gradum).
